The Heater Fan Won't Go!

Recommended Posts

Hi All, my heater fans wont work. Fuse is fine and I bought a new heater control unit (the orange circuit board bit that goes behind the heater knobs on phase 1.5) but still no joy. Any ideas please?

could also be the resistor. Hotwire the fan using a current direct from the battery to see if it runs at all. If not it is probably the resistor

As said it could be the resistor faulty or I have seen before the fan seized from lying up or a bit of water getting into it, its not hard to drop down the fan to see.

Almost certainly the Rheostat, variable resistor, its next to the heater blower just a couple of cross head screws holding it in. If you'd done a search probably would have saved you some time and money.

Thanks all, when I bought the car there was a metal looking heatsink kind of object with a black plug connector on the end in the glovebox. Tried to stick it back in but the same thing was already in. You access it through the passenger footwell towards the back of the radio. 2 of these don't work, the previous owner had said if you plug it back in the fans are permanently on full belt.
