I'd do a search on here for previous topics as you'll find some don't recommend using exhaust wrap.

It's horrible stuff! I wouldn't recommend it at all, especially if you plan to work in your engine bay frequently.

Some stories were going around about them overheating exhaust valves and seats a while ago but I would take this with a hefty pinch of salt. The biggest issue by a mile is that it deteriorates and falls apart after a surprisingly short amount of time, leaving a carpet of itchy fibres all over your engine bay.

People have also had issues of steel manifolds rusting as the fibres are very good at holding water, but stainless manifolds (like the GTi6) will be fine.

Oh they can also absorb oil and other fluids then catch fire!

Need any more reasons?

Well they have that heat wrap spray which protects the wrap and seals it water, dirty and falling apart. Cheers Cam tho :o

After reading several threads on here and other places about the issues with exhaust wrap, I had my manifold sandblasted and then ceramic coated (http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/Exhausts.htm)

Not cheap, but hopefully should last a long, long time :o
