i currently own both :) , and love them both, depends on what you after really.

outright power than the turbo wins hands down, up the boost a bit though is needed. the turbo is defiantly quicker of the mark, but mid gear acceleration is where you notice the most, just bury the throttle at any speed an it just goes. show it a space an it will get to 140 with little effort. as for tuning read some threads on here, i have just put a gt28 turbo on mine and running 1bar, with a paddle clutch and its fun to say the least, puts a lot of big cars to shame and have to say its noticeably quicker than my m3 evo. but it does like to spin the wheels just by looking at the throttle lol.

the gti6, completly different, more progressive power, and the noise steps up an up as you get into the 2nd cam, the induction noise at 6.5k is awesome and they love being up there, well compared to the turbo you need to be up there to get it moving quickly, the mid range acceleration is where i noticed the most difference the gti6 feels more lazy, but like i said once you get it screaming it doesnt hang about. but im addicted to it at the moment the power seams about right it could do with a little more but as is its very drivable it doesnt try and spin the wheels and chuck you off every time you nail it.

i had a great drive the other day in the gti6, it does feel right, the noise the power the grip was great and begs you to keep holding it to hit high revs.

hope that helps a bit, but i think it really does come down to what you want or like to choose between them. (or buy both B))

Well, the gti-6 is the easier conversion to carry out! With no intercooler pipework/mounting to think about and fewer space issues and i would say that the gti-6 is a far more fun engine to use but then i am a big NA fan. As Matt has said, its easier to get big power from the turbo and have good power throughout the rev range whereas you have to rag the gti-6 all the way to the redline and keep it up there to get anywhere. I much prefer the latter, but thats just me! Horses for courses!....Either way, i prefer the Mi16 to both of them!

Again having done them all, I will say the most disapointing conversion was the XU10 turbo, even with 220bhp I never liked it and the powerband was poor even on a well set up Omex ECU, Compare the same conversion on the 1.9 TT and that wins hands down, mainly due to a better turbo and manifold

But the old Mi is the best bet in my books

I'd agree with Miles on this one.

A standard 2.0 Turbo engine just doesn't suit a 205, with its lazy power delivery and complete unwillingness to rev. Covers ground quickly enough, particularly with the boost increased, but never feels quick and never feels quite in tune with the whole 205 GTi ethos. Very tuneable though, with some of the Dutch lot having seen 300hp odd on standard internals (but different turbo, manifold, management etc)

GTi-6 is a much better bet for a 205 in my opinion, although again, even that lacks some character compared to an Mi16.

It's not hard but expensive due to intercoolers, Pipework, D/P, Rad moving etc, as said I really would drive one first and you'll change your mind

Yes I would say allot more, with silicone hose's, parts, intercoolers and really a good clutch even DIY I would say £600.00 over a std 6 install.

From the gains on a 6 engine with bodies, it's not worth the outlay unless other mods are done.
