Mi16 Block

Hi every one im in the middle of re building an MI16.

I bought just a block of a mates mate as I already had the head and all ancilaries.

When I got the engine on the stand to srip it down I noticed it had 2 sheered bolts (as per pic) what is held on with these 2 bolts?

Ive now tried to take them out with easy outs with no luck the only thing I can think of now is to cut the shoulder down about a cm to reveal some of the threads to remove them, then pack it back out with washers..

Has any one else had this problem and how did you get round it?

Cheers Richard

Drill them and retap the thread? If worst comes to worst you could tap them out to the next size up? Try heat as well. I wouldn't go cutting the shoulders off, unless you're really stuck.

Don't worry about them - they were for the original starter support bracket on the old style "fat" starter. Most people don't run those starters anymore, and those that do, don't bother with the bracket as it makes changing the starter a pain.
