Removing Both Driveshaft's....

I'm in the process of taking out a GTi6 engine, everything is now disconnected apart from both driveshafts. I was reading the haynes manual and it says that when removing both driveshafts, insert a dowl through the box to stop the gears dropping.

 

Reading through topics on here about removing driveshafts there's no mention of this?

That is only necessary with very early 205s, pre '85 or something equally unheard of these days.

Cheers, its odd though as my haynes manual is 89 - 93 or something like that..
