Bbm 205 Gti6 Hoses And Thermostat Adapter

Recommended Posts

WooDooUK

I have recently recieved my new 205 Gti6 Hose kit and Thermostat adapter, very shiny it is too!

Could any one answer the following questions? (Probably obvious when i offer up the pipes to the engine)

1) Which water distrobution block are they designed to be used with? (gti6 or S16/Dturbo)

2) Which Thermostat is best used with the adapter, from first glance it looks like i could use either (205 8v or the GTi6 one)

Thanks,

They havn't updated their website, you have to contact them to get the hose kit, about £150 I think.

They fit the GTi6 engine and water Dist block, I did try with the S16 one but with the lack of room for the heater pipe the 'T' piece idea is much better.

Use the 6 stat as it fits into the housing, the 205 one doesn;t, Also it needs the Alloy stat housing as the plastic one is slightly larger in dia.

the hose kit does not replace that pipe or have that little piece of hose thats inbetween. they replace the rest of the hoses.

if i remember right the hose in your hand goes from heater matrix to bottom of the expansion tank, then on to either the metal pipe in the pic or the one coming off the thermostat housing.

Starting to make more sense now that i have remembered that the engine sits at an big angle.

But im still not convinced my stat housing/pipe combination on the back of the engine is correct. The Silver aluminium fitting obviously goes on one of the hoses. but that means there is no room for the black fitting go anywhere. do people normaly just just block this off or do they use another pipe?

thats interesting, because they are not that close to lining up. I shall have to take another look in the garage tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure that's the wrong thermostat housing - 306 GTi-6 ones have two outlets on the back, whereas 406/Xantia 1.8/2.0 ones only have a single outlet like you've got. You need the additional outlet to connect to one of the heater matrix pipes, whereas the other connects to the black pipe that runs across the back of the block.

Right-o then. Looks like i defo have the gti6 water outlet fitting. And looks like i do need the Diesel XU/S16 one as i originaly thought! Which means ditching the black pipe completley.

You only need the XUD/S16 rear coolant block if you're planning to run the hoses as per an 8v.

If you're running with one of Stew's GTi-6 conversion hoses, you keep the GTi-6 lower coolant block.

As said, it's the thermostat housing that looks wrong to me as it should have two outlets rather than the one that you have - hopefully someone with a GTi-6 engine can confirm this.

As said you have the wrong housing, the 6 one has 2 outlets at the back and a very short joining pipe to the black pipe to the Dist (Water Tank) at the back of the engine,

I'd keep the 6 setup as the water pipes get very close to the exhaust otherwise

Ah! the only one i can find like that is the one from a D-Turbo but it looks like it has the same fitting for the black metal pipe and the two for the heater hoses.

silly question time, are you fitting a gti6/vts engine? if so why did you change the thermostat housing?

well here is what happened

When i purchased the engine it didn't have a stat housing, However i got a aload of spare parts that i got when i purchased a GTI6 engined car about a year ago, amongst which was this housing, I just assumed it was a GTi6 one. (obviously not!)
