Hi I've got a camshaft I want to put in sold as a fast road cam. Is there anyway of identifying them? I can't see anything obvious.

Thanks,

Tom.

Usually something stamped on one end of the cam - Kent Cams are stamped something like KC PTxx for example.

Can't see anything. The only markings I can find are on the shank a '2', '88', 8 in a circle and an 8 in a square.

The term fast road can mean anything, Drive a car quickly on the road and it's a fast road cam if you see my point, It's like all the Group 'N' or competition words, vasty misused to get more ££

Yeah true but they did say it was a performance cam. So it sounds very much like its just a standard cam so no point in changing my cam then.

It could be a "fast road" cam thats been reground so it would still have the standard markings on the main part of the cam but those mentioned by Anthony & James will be on the distributor drive end.

Piper are BPXXX & Kent PT.

Who did the cam come from?

Graham.

I'll measure them up I think. What measurements am I looking for?

I'll give the ends of the shaft a clean up but I can't see anything obvious on there.

Thanks,

Tom.

As Graham as said, a lot of the LAD "Fast Road" cams appeared to be standard cams but were allegedly from a special French supplier who had them reground

Ah ok, so if I get my verniers out and measure the lobes and compare them to my originals? I can't see any obvious markings on the end of the cams mind.
