Throttle Cable

after some info on throttle cables.

 

i have got a 1.6 gti that has had a 1.9 fitted i it bought a couple of months back as non runner and am in the process of rebuilding it.

tried putting the throttle cable back on today it is routed past fuel filter over top of engine mount and down the back of inlet manifold to throttle body so that looks ok.the problem i have is the outer cable will only just reach the plastic adjuster in throttle body bracket the inner bowden cable can be fitted but it is too short and will not allow throttle to close fully.

 

i have a spare cable that came with car but that is the same length as what is fitted,ordinarily i would just buy a new cable but i dont want to get a new one only to find it is the same length as what i have already got.

 

are the 1.6 cables shorther than the 1.9 cables or is it simply i have just routed it incorrectly?

The old one should fit but a new one definitely will, they are supplied longer than needed to fit different models then cut down to length.
