Spraying The Inside Of Your Headlights!

Recommended Posts

allye

Just put my head lights (in bits) in the dish washer, as they were pretty minging! The inside reflective coating didn't take to well to it though and some of it has come off! What spray paint is there about to spray it back up? Or do i cut my loses and get some 2nd hand ones and clean those by hand! I'm shelling out for new OE ones.

On the note of head lights can i remove all the old sealant (cracked) and just fill it with normal clear sealant?

Thanks! Ali

You can't spray the inside of the headlights, it needs to be a reflective coating to improve the light from the bulb, any normal paint won't give this so your lights would be like a candle imo.

They aren't very expensive for new Valeo headlights (~£20 each) so Id' cut your losses & get those instead of getting some second hand ones unless they are almost new & considerabley cheaper.

Not the dishwasher ! - put them in the oven :glare: ..

.. seriously , heat them up in the oven and while hot prise the glass off the base ... clean what ever you need , and re-seal the glass back on the base ...

Reflective spray , dunno , maybe chrome one would do ...

I wouldn't go with anything other than Valeo. I fitted new headlights a while ago, one Valeo and one pattern, and for a start the quality is very obviously lower, but also the pattern part broke when I fitted it! When I popped the little ball / socket together for the adjuster the socket just shattered.

Are the GSF valeo?

GSF are pretty good, if you specifically ask for a brand, they'll usually get it.

new headlights really freshen up the front end of a 205. My brother put some in his CTI and it improved no end

This is very true, I put a pair of new headlights and indicators and a new numberplate on mine along with a bit of plasticare and the car really did look brand new!!!

They shuld be but ask them to confirm before you order them.

Only downside about putting new headlights on with old indicators is it looks odd imo, best do them all at the same time.
