just had a call from a friend who knows of an x reg xsara sx he says it's a 2l 16v lump but just wondering what if any differnces are there from the vts ???

is it just a case of model differences or are they really that different ???

asking as it's cheap and still looking for an engine to stick in a shared rally project me and a mate are doing to compete in next year, and as im coming across these more than the vts

I thought the sx was 1600? Only the vts came with the gti-6 lump (xu10j4rs)

I suspect that it's a XU7JP4 (1.8 16v) engine.

I don't believe that the XU10J4R (2.0 16v 136hp) engine was ever fitted to the Xsara.

As has been said, only the VTS models came with the XU10J4RS (GTi-6) engine in them. Be careful, as there are odd late Phase 1 VTS models that have a 1.8 16v engine in them - I *think* these are Irish imports, but they certainly crop up from time to time on eBay.
