Turbo Techniques Question?

Recommended Posts

Paul Smith

Hi

Can anyone tell me about the turbo technique engines, what turbo they used if and how they lowered compression what PSI was used as standard? The power and torque produced?

Thanks

Paul

Have a look at Tom Fentons thred, the TT was around 170bhp getting close to 200lbft of torque iirc, but they ran the wanky 5th injector system which is pants. You can get the standard pistons machined or get hold of a late cat equiped bottom end as it runs lower compression. There are probably still a few 205 parts manifolds kicking about which would be good over the standard tt manifold. Get some decent management such as omex.

With Modern maagement there is no need to worry about the compression, look at allot of modern cars to see what they run, As said the 5th injector was only done at the time due to cost, a ECU back then was £1000's unlike today.

Have a search on Google and you;ll find a fair amount of info on the TT conversion's

what sort of PSI would be safe to run on the engine without lowering any compression?

Do you not need a 5th injector due to technology advances with ecu's?

Just trying to get my understanding, sorry if its annoying?

Just another thought does a manifold from any turbo diesel 205's fit the gti engine. a long shot but worth an ask.

You need around £3500.00 min really for a good conversion with manifold, Turbo, Intercooler, ECU, Mapping etc etc, You'll be looking at a min of 200bhp and 240ft lb of torque with the right parts.

Only the TT parts fit, Nothing else bar the rather usless XU10J2TE engine

Ahhh Miles how can you say that about them after we got 250bhp and 280ft lbs of torque lol, alloy lump is lighter but I cant ever see one making that kind of power without chucking ££'s and £££'s at it ! no matter how much of a fan I am of them over the cast iron bottom end !
