had the boy there fitting my new windscreen, as soon as he was out the van he was straight over checking the car over, complimented me on how good condition its in. says he has seen alot worse and it was one of his favourite cars. told me of the old days when everyone wanted a 1.9 gti. felt good having an old car that still attracts attention for the right reasons. has really made me kick into gear and get it back on the road.

It's amazing how much good feeling there is towards these cars - as you say, good to keep you motivated!

Maybe its where I live but the only comments I seem get is along the lines of why am I driving an old piece of crap. This is usually followed up by telling me how insane I am when I mention whats been spent on it.

I can relate to that, my workmate often tells me it's a s*itty old french car and i should have bought a mk1 golf GTI if i wanted a proper GTI. Coming from a diesel clio driver i ignore those remarks.

I would say the good and bad comments I get are about 50/50.

I get mostly bad comments about my 205 - mainly because they come every day from my missus. :) However, from other people I get good comments. Always nice when people come over to me in carparks / petrol stations and ask me about the car. 8)

autoglass also love pricing to replace 205 windscreens; they wanted £350+, but it would come with a lifetime warranty on their labor. Strangely I didn't go with their great offer.

my 405 had a cracked windscreen, needed new one for the mot, got a firm from barnsley to come supply and fit the screen for £85 inc vat?

i was very happy and they did a good job as the 405 has stupid chrome trims whichare a nightmare apparantly!

as for comments on cars i have a sierra xr4x4 which i get comment for regularly for in petrol stations! (generally people who had them in the past)

405 did get s bit of prasie at the mot station, they were both sitting in it remarking on the quality of the interior and how compforabel it is, made me laugh but french cars do have there charms!

205's are very rare now and i always have a good butchers if i see a nice one, well just 1 at all!
