I'd take your f'in licence away and give you a push bike. Although it still doesn't stop you being a prick. You clearly don't learn. knob.

Its no reflection on the way I drive at all, but I'm 25 and have only been pulled over once (last month) for no insurance and I actually had tempcover so got away scot-free. No doubt I've now jinxed it.

Not read them all but going by what every1 has said is that i am an idiot!

Passed my test on March 15 2010

Pulled next day in my 205 xe/s for agressive driving, but was getiing so much abuse form a drunk was annoyed so when he snapped of my ariel that was it and reverse out from my parking space and booted it not noticing the police standing at other side of the street, local police so gave me a talking to and sent on my way.

Apil 3 At half 2-3am caught at 53 in a 30, by an unmarked saab, pulled out to have a work i thought it was a m8 so but the foot to the floor, outrun them for couple of miles then done for an average of 99.21.

May got pulled over again by unmarked ploice for wheel spinning and attemted racing, got an asbo and another day in court.

August had to be home by midnight as thats when i offically lost my licience for the first speeding offence and put my car into a wall 2 corners form my house at 110 at 11.48pm then police man just finnished his shift stopped and phoned the police and warned me not to drive off, considering my engine was on the road the car was on the other side of the rivver in 100 b its i didbt think i would be driving of, then police arrived and gave me another asbo and impounded my car, baught the car back for £180 only baught the car for £10 but had to prov a point to the police,

First speeding a 99.21 6 point revoked licience and £1200 fine

wheels spinning 3 points and £180 fine

crash i am in court for on the nineth but have been asured that i will get away with it.

so i am now on 9points and not been threw my test for 8 months, do my theory on monday again and test asap after that.

Bloody hell mate, in all seriousness you should slow the f**k down and it sounds like (under your own admission) you drive far too fast and like an utter c**k gobbler. I'm 19 and never drove like any of the things you got caught for, never mind what you didn't. Check your spelling and text language as per forum rules!

From your profile I see your 17. Most of the people on this forum may have fairly nice/fast car but they don't drive like idiots (I don't count myself as having a 'nice/fast' car as I'm driving a diesel which just begs to be driven at 55mph and no faster! )

When I was a teenager I used to hear other "kids" talking about the kind of driving incidents that cazzy93 has described. I thought they were total d*ck heads back then, and times don't change. It was almost like bragging rights - "yeah, I crashed my Nova the other night cos I tried to take a bend at 90mph". Well done mate, have a pat on the back

I started driving a little later - 19 - but I never drove to such stupid extents. I think a significant part of my driving mentality back then was the fact that I worked my arse off just to afford a very basic car, plus the insurance and tax, all paid for by me. I couldn't afford to stack my car and replace it, or the associated costs of increased insurance as a result of driving like a prick. So it was about preservation of my own property, let alone my own life or that of others.

For anyone to continue driving like such a bellend after their first incident, so soon after passing their test, is just beyond me :) The fact that he's come on here and admitted all of this just proves how naive he is. The only positive from that story is that he seems to be well aware of the fact that he is "an idiot".

To be fair it's very common, it's based on the cognitive behaviour of boys. It starts young and manifests in adolescence, extreme risk taking and the type of risk is based on your relative peer group. For example some lads take massive risks while driving and push the limits beyond what is safe or sensible other lads may take to bmx riding and push themselves to do things which the car driving group wouldn't go near because it looks stupidly risky. The key to progressing from this adolescent point in your life is to learn from your mistakes and use those lessons to form your decision making in future

Its people like you Crazzy93 that make me pay so bloody much for my car insurance! I started driving at 17, soon to turn 19 and you're the reason this age group have such a bad repuation!

My one and only story, should have known better, do now etc. Other than this never had any points. Actually never had any points at all. Turns out they can't disqualify you AND give points.

At uni, had my Mi for a year, previously owned 205 GTis for 2-3 years and had been tinkering with them so a mate with a 1.6 said his was running like a sack of crap and I agreed to test drive. Road just down from uni was wide, no pavement on my side, good visibility, dry weather not a soul in sight etc. Should have waited 1/4 mile for the national limit. Anyway decided to hoof his car, seemed to be running fine... Lo and behold an unmarked white van is pulled up on the other side 200 yards away. Clocked it but far too late.

The first picture could be a person, likely white with maybe darkish hair.

Second picture is obviously a male, early twenties, white, black hair.

Third is irrefutably my ugly mug screwed up face, the countenance of someone onto which the expression and realisation of doom has just befallen. Me.

Balls.

So the speeding ticket comes through to my mate, and luckily I am insured 3rd party on his car for, he passes it onto me. 5 months and 27 days after the original ticket I get a court summons. 3 more days and it would have been some latin expression which means null and void. Not a good day to be severely hungover and have that letter frop through your door.

So the nice people at Exeter Magistrates Court have the joy of my company.I didn't know this but you get to sit in the back of the Courtroom on the previous session in some places. A young lad, only 16/17 had borrowed a motorbike, without permission, without tax, licence, MOT or insurance and had caused an accident by overtaking on double solid lines and 2-3 other people had been injured, 1 very seriously. They threw the book at him so I quietly and discretely shat myself at the back of the court.

My turn. I had suited up, shaved, not gelled hair and the like to appear as nice and useful member of society as possible. Denied nothing, said I had no excuse, made my apologies, had learnt my lesson, and needed to drive for a job I was shortly due to start at (which was all true, I had been bricking it for weeks before the court date). Maximum punishment at the time could have been £400ish fine plus 12 months ban. I considered myself extremely lucky to get £200 fine and a 7 day ban.

So don't do 65 in a 30. Learn from my moment of hazy judgement and not your own.

Well here goes, after enjoying reading all your stories of woe I thought it was time to cleanse my soul with a few confessions!!

I have been driving for about 25 years and had a total of 6 points. I have been pulled over a further twice as we shall see.

1. 205 GTI Coming back from college in Darlington on A1 near Catterick about 10pm in may 1994 nice quiet road, good conditions and dark “plodding along” at about 99.99 or so. Noticed another car keeping up quite well but thought nothing more about it about a mile or so later said car lights up like a bl00dy Christmas tree. So I pull over and get out, all the normal is this your car stuff follows, where are you going? Have you any ID? Showed ID and was invited to take a seat in his car. I was sh1tting bricks by this time as my earlier estimation may have been a bit low!! So how fast do you think you were going say he, “UM about 90 says I” well you did drop down to 90 at one point was the reply. (Gulp, this is going to be bad” I thought. He then went on to explain the system in his car for measuring my speed and says………………………….. I have averaged your speed over a 1 mile stretch and you were doing 98.5 MPH (well at least I should keep my licence then). How long have you owned this car then “5 years” I reply sheepishly well you can’t say you don’t know how fast it goes then can you? “No”. I was as honest as possible with him and grovelled quite a lot until the inevitable time of judgement was upon me. Well given the speed you were doing I have 3 ways to deal with you I can either issue a fixed penalty, summons you to appear in court ordeal with you here at the roadside. ………………………………………………………………………………. And I got a produce, was absolutely stunned and not to say greatly relieved. This was one of the nice policemen!!

2. 205 GTI 1997 dual carriageway about 2 ish on a Friday afternoon doing about 85 in a 70 clocked by a police motorbike hidden behind a bush, no luck this time 3 points and a fine.

3. 205 GTI 1998 pulling off roundabout near Cardiff bay ASDA 1730 Sunday, To this day neither my wife nor I have the faintest idea what I did wrong. Pulled of roundabout and accelerated up the slipway to the bridge across the bay towards the town centre. Flishy flashy lights soon illuminate the area so pull over. His first words to me were “that’s the best bit of sh1t driving I’ve seen all day”, “is that your girlfriend in the car” well yes, well my fiancé (not sure why I felt the need to differentiate there) “Well you’re a tw@t then aren’t you?” Sorry officer (was to stunned and confused to say anything else, thought of millions of better replies later but half my brain was still trying to figure out what I’d done.) Don’t do it again he said before disappearing off back to his car!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I am usually the first to admit to my failings and my wife is even quicker to point out any driving error but to this day neither of us has any idea what I did wrong (Apart from being an Englishman in Wales!!!) Not such a nice bloke I think the only reason I did not get more hassle was it was close to shift change.

4. 307 Quicksilver Christmas 2005 approaching Newport on the A449(M) came wizzing out from under a bridge to see a “Safety Camera Van” sat there. hit the brakes but got a letter through the post a few weeks later 84 in a 70 3 points and a fine merry christmas from south wales police!!!!. Daft thing is the closest I came to an accident that day was the range rover following me nearly went into the back of me when I braked; he was so close I bet he didn’t even get a ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the speeding was my own fault and the police I dealt with were spot on, as you see I go for the yes sir ,no sir, three bags full sir approach!!!!!. I will never know about the other one.

Here's one a little different to the rest.

I'm 29 and passed my test when I was 17 and have had no points and no accidents since passing. The only times I have been pulled over have been random stop checks.

I have never been able to see the point in jeopardising my life, the lives of others and/or other people's property for the sake of driving 5, 10, 15, 20 miles faster than the speed limit or for taking risks on public roads for the sake of showing off the power or handling ability of my car.

Driving for me is a pleasurable thing and I like to be able to relax whilst doing so without the fear of being pulled over for going to fast. The only time I will break the speed limit is when overtaking cars when safe to do so on the A82 so that I'm out of the danger zone quickly and once I've passed I always slow back to the limit immediately.

Keep your license clean and don't cause accidents. It's amazing how cheap insurance is when you do.

I fell foul of an unmarked volo while driving my wrx on the m5 near exeter, clocked me doing 98. There was a mx5 i was keeping up with and when i pointed this out to the cop he said hard luck mate but its hes lucky day. He then said its touch and go as to if you were over the ton but we will call it 98 and give you 3 points and a £60 fine, so i shut up and excepted it. Then they spent the next ten minutes admiring my car and asking how fast it would go ect. I thought about one of the things he said to me about the amount of traffic there was, and they had been following me quite away. He said although i was speeding i was driving safely but the law is the law and others might not be as good and i could then be the cause of an accident. This got to me and i drive a bit slower now on motorways. They were just doing their job but i don't like unmarked cars. It did show me though that some of them are petrol heads too. Also now i've got 3 points i am more carefull because i want to keep my competition licence.

So is it just now you can afford to drive your civic over ledges and stack saabs into roundabouts? :o

No, far from it! But it goes to prove that these things happen to us all, no matter how carefully we think we are driving. If you drive like a complete nugget, the chances of that happening increase drastically.

2005 - Pulled over Christmas Eve for a random drink driver spot check in my fiesta, asked where I was coming from/going to, just picked up a takaway so she sent me on my way with no other questions before it got cold :o

2006 - Pulled over in my Fiesta, which had been vandalised on new years eve outside a friends house, by a cop on a bike. His reason being the car looked dodgy. Told me off because my tax disk was on the dash, and not stuck to the window, checked I was who I was and sent me on my way.

2006 - Pulled over on my way into the estate where my girlfriend lived, looks bad when you're being followed and turn left, then left again down a side street. They thought I was trying to avoid them so pulled me over as I parked outside my g/f's house. Nice one, good impression there! Had a nice chat and off they went.

2006 - Fitted a Dixie horn to my Punto for s*its and giggles, same day set it off driving past a pubs beer garden, blue lights. Whoops! After being advised they were not legal, I appologiesed and said I would remove said horn. I was just more careful where I used it after that.

2008 - 'Random stop checks' Driving along nicely in my 306, Police officer stood in the road and usherd me into a car park, several police talking to others, all were under 25 and driving nice cars. Hmmmm. Told I had no tax, so I kindly pointed out my valid tax disk to the officer. 'Ah' Double checks on the radio, 'sorry sir, Somone was overspoken' He continued to go over the car with a fine tooth comb, found nothing and off I went

2010 - 306 HDi, My back box fell off while driving. Later that day, I was giving some friends a lift home after going out for a meal and there were 4 of us in the car, which also happened to be lowered~100mm all round. A panda car watched me going very slowly over the speed bumps, so decided to stop me for a chat. Told me why it's deadly to not have a back box, probably didn't belive me when I said it came off that same day, and I was picking up a Longlife system the next day (all true) and sent me off with a warning that if I was pulled again without it being sorted then I would have a fine.

All in all not too bad, plenty of stops, but always just a polite chat and I'm off on my journey again. I imagine now i'm driving the GTi I will have many more stops for 'chats'

Hurrah!

I'm now 37 and like you have been driving since I was 17, still no points.

I did have a crash when I was 19 which wrote off the car I had literally just bought, never got it home. But it turned out that the other driver wasn't insured or somesuch because although I was at fault in the crash ( I pulled out because he was indicating to turn left into the junction I was pulling out of... but of course, he'd just left his indicator on, so ploughed into the side of me) nothing ever came of it, no insurance claims or anything. Learnt a valuable lesson that day.

I won't say I always stick to the speed limit but choose my time and place and certainly wouldn't take risks.

I'd love to describe driving as a pleasure like you do but our roads are so overcrowded down here, it rarely is sadly, so I tend to pick my times for a drive rather carefully.

Where I live overcrowding is non existent, the 36,000 acre (60 sq mile) estate I live on is home to no more than 350 people and busy roads to me is a queue of around 8 cars that have just come off the ferry and are passing straight through. We call this 'rush hour'.

I once got pulled over in my 205 Mi16 on 45s driving at 40-50mph. The copper told me I was doing 100, and thought my car was a Renault 206 1.6 turbo diesel.
