What Revs In 2nd Or 3rd Is 60kph?

Recommended Posts

As the title says, i need to know in a 1.9 205 gti, with a 1.6 box, what revs in 2nd or 3rd gear would give me 60kph. This is because in my race car i do not have a speedo anymore, and people are getting drive through penalties for speeding in the pit lane....

any help would be really appreciated!

Tom.

That is very hard to get an accurate result without more information.

A 1.6 Gti box with a standard 4.06.1 final drive ratio gives 8.6mph per 1000 revs in 2nd and 11.9mph per 1000 revs in 3rd.

But that is with standard wheel and tyre combination. So 14 inch wheels and 185/60/14 tyres.

If you are running that combination then it is easy, just multiply the revs by either 8.6 or 11.9.

If not use an online tyre/wheel conversion to find the amount the 8.6 or 11.9 change by.

To get your answer, convert 8.6mph and 11.9mph to kph and divide 60 by the results.

Edit: Ok i did it for you ;)

8.6mph=13.84kph 11.9mph=19.15kph

60kph in 2nd is 4,335 revs - 60kph in 3rd is 3,133 revs.

This only applies if all the above criteria is standard.
