Recommended Posts

i am trying to get the ignition loom build out of a gti loom piece, i have cut away all the bits from the gti loom that are noot needed but now not sure which wires i need to join in to my bx main loom as i think it is only 2 wires that need to be connected but any advice or wiring diagrams would be very helpfull

this is the piece of the loom im trying to replicate

i have these wires left but am unsure which ones need to be connected as they are not numbered so wring diagram doesn't help much

1) thick red wire from oil plug (bottom of picture)

2)thin grey wire (bottom of picture

3) 2x thick green wires with 2 thin wires inside (bottom of picture)

4) thick green and yellow from ignition amp plug- assume this is the earth (top of picture)

Thick red is 12v ignition, thin grey is rev counter, and you shouldn't need the two green multi-core cables as they're 8v specific.

You will also need to earth the yellow and green stripped wire on the ignition amp though, and one of the other wires on the ignition amp needs to connect to the BX loom so the ECU can trigger the coil - you'd have to check the pinout to see which one, as I can't remember off the top of my head which pin/colour it is.

In total then, there will be three wires going to the BX loom - 12v ignition, ignition trigger, and the rev counter.

(this is off the top of my head and without a BX or 205 loom in front of me to reference - I'd suggest double-checking rather than taking as gospel!)
