Lidl Car Covers

Recommended Posts

Bigtimmy

Scanning through our local paper yesterday there was the usual Lidl advert for the guff that they sell other than food.

This weeks ad was all about prepping your car for winter, with a battery charger, antifreeze etc etc, and car covers for £8.99.

£8.99 I thought I'd best nip down and take a look.

I bought the last one in our little Lidl store and bjesus it's not bad. :D

I wouldn't entertain putting it on a car outside, but if your beloved 205 (like mine) lives in a shed which is dusty they are awesome value. I'm well impressed and if they had had more of the little blighters I'dve bought another couple.

If you fancy one don't buy the small one, it would be like trying to squeeze Vanessa Feltz into a lycra catsuit, go medium and it fits great. :)

Just for the record I don't work for Lidl and have no affiliation to them so this is a completely independent review. B)

Fill your boots boys and girls!

They do some good stuff but you have to be quick. I think some shop keepers buy them up and sell them in their own shop.

A picture of my 205 "undercover"

Admittedly it's a bit shiny for my liking, but a couple of months of dust should sort that out!!

The Mother-in-Law's bought me one despite my garage never getting that dusty. Seems bloody good VFM regardless.

One thing I dont get with covers is they always have a warning on the packaging saying dont leave it on the car for more than 2 days. Im guessing they are covering themselves if moisture sits and causes bubbling or damage to paintwork.

I'd go large, they aren't overly generous on their sizing.

Mine is a medium, and the stated size is 175 x 440 x 120 cm and it fits well on the 205, but I'm not sure it would fit anything much bigger.

Blow me I've read the instructions and theres a whole section about what size fits what car. No mention of the 205 though!

As it turns out M is the smallest..go figure!

L is next and reckons you should fit a 307 coupe under it so the 306 should be fine. (Size 175 x 480 x 120cm)

XL is the largest size and reckons you'll get a 406 / 7 or a a 607 under it. But then it also says you'll get a BMW 7 series under it too!! (Size 175 x 530 x 120cm)

Hope that all helps

On my R5 GTT and now my 205 ive found that putting polystyrene blocks specifically placed under the cover to allow airflow under the cover and stops moisture build up.

When im about later ill take some pics of mine with the covers on and you get what i mean....

Just been to my local Lidl and bought one, I would have bought a coupe but it was the last one. Not tried it out yet but looks ok for the money <_<
