Electric Spray Guns

Recommended Posts

Alan_M

I'm looking at purchasing an electric spray gun for spraying the inside/underneath/engine bay etc of the car. These can be had for £100 on a decent one (Apollo Spraymate), and compared with the cost of a powerful enough compressor & spray gear, is a no brainer. This sort of thing is ideal for me as I'm restricted to lower level compressors due to garage being 30m away from a power point (volt drop).

The review in Practical Classic suggests particular models can be used with cellulose, enamels, waxes, underseals & stonechips. So it can be used for painting other stuff too!

Any experiences out there?

I use a similar cheap £100 earlex hvlp sprayer for painting the inside and outside of containers, it does the job it needs to with heavy oxide paints ok, thinner lighter cellulose wouldnt be a issue. I would definatly use it to spray the things you mentioned, think you may be suprised how capable these little units are.

Think mines around 450watts, again I use it on the end of a 50m extension cable no problem at all.

i have got one and found it applied celly paint quite well,as i used a gloss paint that needed no clear coat i was able to cut out the slight imperfections and got quite a good finish.

as ever the key is prepping properly to get the best possible finish.
