Leak On Gearbox

Noticed I have a leak from gearbox on the housing where O/S shaft goes in.it is not the output seal but where the housing meets main casing.

What form of seal is between these 2 parts of casing is it a gasket or o ring?

Gearbox is a BE3

Car has not been driven so oil just leaks out from standing stationary.

I think you are talking about the speedo drive housing? Held on with 3 off M8 bolts? Speedo cable goes in the top?

 

If so this uses a large O-ring to seal, you will need to remove the shaft to replace it. Also a dab of RTV silicone at the same time will not be a bad idea.
