Will A 309 Carb (1.6) Down Pipe Fit 205 Gti?

Guys.

Opportunity to get a 309 1.6 carb downpipe for free for my 205gti6 conversion.

Cant use my own as its got a a magnex 4 branch manifold.

Straight forward fit or not? (i know i need to shorten it but i mean at the manifold end)

Yes, it should fit, the XU 8v engine uses the same exhaust manifold on all versions so once modified it ought to fit fine afaik.

Ive just had a shifty on service box to cross reference part numbers using the 309 engine code XU51C (C for carb?).

They (part numbers) dont match with the 205 gti ones.

Is this usually the case with similar / same parts for different models??

if the part number differs it is a different part, though that's not to say it wont fit.

 

they all share the same fire ring kit, but I think the carb and monopoint models may have a narrower bore downpipe.
