How Is The 'rev Counter' Wired?

Recommended Posts

timb1046

how is the tachometer 'rev counter' wired on an MI16? my car is all running rather well now having solved all other issues, but I really would like a working rev counter. I'm pretty sure the original one does work, as it used to on the 8V but since the swap it hasn't. is there anyway of testing this?

I am quite happy to completly re-wire this section of the loom, I just need to know what it reads off and where it reads too. does anyone know which terminal on the back of the dash feeds this? I'll have a gander at that and give it a clean up if needed. It'll also allow me to trace the current wiring and find whats causing the problem in that and so fix it.

Regards

Tim

wire 112 on the mi16 & loom comes from the ignition coil and needs mating up to wire 112 also on the 205 loom.

both wires would have been in the multiplug connectors in the engine bay

all fuses are OK I'll re-check through them all though. What else does the fuse feed? I'll check that the other bits and bobs from this fuse are being fed. (just a fuse number would be cool and I can ask Mr. Haynes.)

The signal wire isn't fused but the power supply to the tacho is.

I don't recall which fuse it is and the Haynes shows it as different for some years but usually number 1. Also covers the reversing light(s) on some years.
