I've seen a de-limited ecu(chipped) on eBay , is that any good to a standard 8v 1.9. I have k&n kit on it and thinking of putting a magnex full system on too. How much of a difference would that make and would it beneficial and. All suggestions welcome.

Cheers

no point at all in removing the limiter really as peak power on the 1.9 8v is between 6 and 6200 as standard, the limiter is around the 6600 mark.

unless you have modified the engine and need more than 6600 rpm then just stick to the standard limiter, also its unlikely that many will be exceeding that kind of RPM with a standard ecu and inlet manifold.

No it's crap.

The 8 valve ECU isn't a chip at all, and rev limiter can be removed by cutting one wire. You shouldn't need to though, unless heavily modified (and then not on standard ECU anyhow) as you probably won't make any extra power taking it over the standard rev limit.

All of those mods may give you a slightly freer reving engine, and might restore some lost power from dirty air filter and a damaged exhaust (e.g. knackered baffles or split has come apart in downpipe and blocking flow). Wouldn't expect anything more.

EDIT:

Assume from the PM when you say full system, you mean with the Magnex manifold too. These have been proven to give a little more power, but that alone won't transform the car massively. As said above though, if your exhaust system is damaged internally, a cheap aftermarket or poorly made pattern one, changing to a decent system would make the world of difference.

In all my years messing with 205s, have only ever seen the Magnex be better than standard, but in each of those articles / test, it was downpipe back without the manifold fitted to match.

There are delimited ECUs and also Superchipped / Starchipped ECUs. The latter have had the engine map adjusted to provide more marginally power.

Have you seen a 'Superchip' ECU?

An extra PCB about the size of a 50p, and about £1 worth of electronic components (resistor/cap/transistor).

It says chipped but I don't think it's superchipped. My crx was superchipped, they were the best on the Market at that time., made the world of a difference with al other mods.
