Gearbox Problems When Warm

Recommended Posts

Ok I got some problems with the gearbox. When its cold its good works well but once I have driven about 15min or so gears start to get difficult to select generally selecting 1st is the worst can become really hard at times and also get crunching into 3rd and 4th at times. I have also noticed sometimes when setting of at lights for instance the car will bog down as if its not found gear properly straight away.

I had my gearbox oil changed at a garage not so long ago so can't see it being that, I have read about the clutch cable that can cause some of the issues above, what about the clutch plate itself could the springs be damaged on here as I saw a thread with someone having similar gearbox problems and turned out to be clutch plate.

any ideas?

forgot to mention it also has a quickshift fitted as was a road rally car, not sure of make of quickshift but bm rings a bell, I understand the quickshifts can cause damage to the gear linkage part?

I'd change the gear oil, peugeot gearboxes don't like anything but proper spec 75w80 BV oil and will often display symptoms like this.

Typically you'll find it from a Total oils or Shell supplier, most pug dealers sell it in 2L bottles for a reasonable cost.

Don't forget Citroen.

As said, If the oil's been changed by a 'Garage' Alarm bells would be ringing for the wrong type of oil, The damage may already be done thou as the box's don;t like it and the Syncro hubs can overheat and melt
