Sad Cleaning

ok cold starts are now proving a mission and a half, usually resulting in me jumping on the hill im on (bad for the car i know but i need to get to work and uni)

going to check the SAD but followed the guide to find it on here and still cant see it!

where the hell is it?

how do i clean it? got carb cleaner, do i just spray it on it?

Soaking it in degreaser and then blasting it through with a bit of carb/brake cleaner has always worked fine for me.

 

That said, in my experience the SAD is generally pretty reliable, and in most cases is unfairly blamed for alot of Jetronic cold start/idling issues when the actual underlying issue is normally one of poor setup or a faulty/messed-with AFM. Certainly in all the 205's that I've owned and sorted for other people, only one of them has ever had a faulty SAD.

ive retracked the AFM yesterday, the screw is all the way in on it now, i should open the screw half way?

 

im still it at a loss as to where the SAD is, is it like under the dizzy near the advance vacuum?

The idle mixture screw? If that's wound in all the way, no wonder it's running so badly when cold as that will likely be very rich! :P

 

You can't say that it needs to be in a particular spot, and best to set it using an MOT gas analyser - aim for around 1% CO.
