Ideas For A Project...

Recommended Posts

Havnt been on here for so long!

Been so busy with work over the last year that my 205 hasnt really had much attention. Its spent most of the last year parked up, looking neglected and unnurtured. So much so that i saw it as a wasted expence paying for tax, insurance, etc. I even started thinking about selling it! Luckily i came to my senses and realised that was a silly idea! Its now SORN'd and tucked up for the winter at least. Even though i have barely driven it for months, i started missing it within just a few days of taking it off the road. This has now got me thinking... project time!

There are two ways forward for me i think.. theres the throttle body route - a nice 20-30hp gain without really breaking the bank OR should i be a bit more adventurous..?

Im thinking Mi16 Turbo  I havnt read into it that much.. what are peoples experiences with a front wheel drive mi16 turbo? Obviously there is a wide range of power outputs possible with different specs... I wont be pushing my bank balance too much, hopefully! :/ But would there be too much power at the front for such a little car? Im quite partial to the idea of a 4x4 205, but not sure weather it will make the car more/less exciting or ruin the 205's famous driving querks!! What do u think? Anyone got one/driven one?

As a side note, if im going this far, would i be better off doing away with the mi16 and starting again with a gti6 engine?? Not sure on its compatability with 405 4x4 gear though...

Oh god, i can see this getting expensive!!

Miles

Nothing wrong with a high powered Turbo engine, I;ve driven both 8 & 16v version's, I think the 16v one was around 350bhp and that was quick but not beyond what the car can handle, yes drive it silly then it will just spin but control the power and it was fine even in the wet

Allot of £££ to do it right thou.

But either way stick with teh Alloy block, I just don;t like the iron block ones bar the management is the best thing on them
