Mi16 Engine Swop .....should I

i have in my possesion a low mileage alloy block mi 16 engine a plug and play loom for the same a be3 mi16 gear box shortended inlet reangled exaulst manifold and a mint 1.9 gtiphase two car k regsteel gray my problem is should i convert to 16v power. what im trying to find out is there rearly that much diff in prerformance. i have owned a 405 mi16 but never been in a 205 mi16 as i live in tunbridgewells kent. has any one got one to show me if its worth it . my plan would be to run on 405 injection management ect big q should i

hi baz it was you i brought the gearbox of f. to be honest when i had the mi 16 405 i dident think it was that fast but i suppose in a 205 the wieght is a lot less. but a lot of people have been saying leave it as an 8v it will be worth more being left alone but temptation is still there to do it

I think notamondayfan is talking about the car as a whole. If you wanted to sell on at some point in the future you may be better keeping it original for better payback. But, fitting an Mi16 to a 205 will not dramatically drop its value. 205 Mi16s do tend to go for decent money as long as its a decent conversion.

 

An XU 16v in a 205 transforms it, performance similar to the newer hot hatches, sometimes a tad quicker :rolleyes:

my xu10 is a massive improvment from my 1.6 8v. scarily fast in fact.

 

depends on what you want from it? an investment or a bloody fun car to drive
