205 Xs Rear Bumper Rubbing

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with my rear offside bumper rubbing on my tyre,it has been lowered but only 20mm and has 14" steels with 175/65 tyres,i have just fitted bilsteins hopeing that would cure it due to a broken shock but it seems that side of the bumper is further forward than the nearside so its rubbing, the rear beam seems fine,is it easy enough to adjust the bumper?thanks.

How do you know the beam seems fine, have you taken it apart and looked?

Sounds like you need to rebuild it to be honest, compare the gap between the tyre and bumper and if one side is closer than the other your beam is probably knackered.

It does sound like the rear beam is screwed. It should not rub on the bumper at all with 14" steels. Arch lip maybe.

Cheers, Ali

Thanks for your reply,i measured from the centre of the arch to the inside of the edge of the wheel rim and they where both 11.5cm,i am just wondering if one side of the axle is weaker than the other or it is just the bumper being closer on one side, thanks.

Solved, new bumper bolts and a few washers to space them away from the wheel,if it statrs to rub again any time soon its a new axle job.
