Gti6 Brakes Problem

ive just brought some gti6 brakes and was told thats what they were and got discs and pads with them, i have 1.9gti hubs now when i try to mate them to the hub the brake carrier doesnt seem to line up. Ive been told that they could have come from a 406 td the discs are 283mm can some on tell me if these are the same as a gti6 setup?

406 calipers do look at a glance like GTi-6 ones, but won't bolt upto a 1.9 hub.

If they have come from a 406, the calipers are the same but the carriers a different, on a 406 the carriers mount further away from the centre of the hub, therefore on a 205/306 hub they mount closer to the centre of the hub, you would need a disc around 260mm to fit. Basically take them back and get a proper set from a GTI6.

what about just the carriers ?

I dont think that will work, as the 406 calipers are intended for wider discs as well.
