Any 205 Mi16s In The Aberdeenshire Area...?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I don't post much here, as you can see, but I have been around for a while lurking in the shadows.

Main reason is my restoration project 1.9 (that used to be my daily driver) has been sitting untouched, in its component parts, for the best part of 3 years... but I am looking to get moving on it again, and have bought another (roughish) 1.9 to spur me on! It will also helpfully act like the picture you get on the front of a jigsaw puzzle...

the one being restored - note the angle of the rear wheel...

Anyway, during the ensuing period I have, like many other people on here, been thinking about whether to keep it standard, or change the engine. I am still not sure, but based on everything I have read am thinking of going the 1.9 Mi16 route.

The one comment that comes up all the time when people are not sure though is "have a shot of one". Unfortunately I don't know anyone else with another 205, let alone an Mi16. So if there is anyone out there from the Aberdeen (or even Dundee) areas with such a car that would like to help me out then I would by VERY grateful! To make it a little more tempting, I have an old (but good!) Lotus Esprit that I would be happy to let such a helpful person have a shot of in exchange...

Thanks,

Scott

Really like the look of that silver gti! Apart from the camber :(

If you go an Mi route then bite the bullet and get it rebuilt.

It does look good in the silver. It's going to be fully re-sprayed, and have been mulling over different colours, but think I am just going to keep it original. Certainly prefer it to the Sorrento Green one... :(

This is how it looks right now (though this was taken in April 2007...!! - scary how the time passes).

The rotisserie (and indeed most of the garage unfortunatly) is my dads, and makes things much easier!

Engine rebuild is not a problem, and I was planning on that one way or another.

backroadpug - would love to see what you are doing, and would certainly take you up on your offer, especially if I have not made up my mind by then (quite likely!). The parts you have sound interesting, I will have to come and have a look, though with this being my first conversion, a full 'kit of parts' might make things easier!

Oh, and that Lecht road is great - this was my last trip (in the middle of 'summer') with a group of loti -

fingers crossed mine will be back on the road end of the month if i have no more set backs so ill give you a shout.

then its re build the 106gti engine with all my new shiney bits fingers crossed it should have round the 190-200bhp mark
