there's some information on here;

http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=104146

no details of any Catcams though, or a specific figure on the actual clearance, but a few cams that are said to be safe and those that are marginal, and those that have been run but its not advised to.

My mate was having a look for some cams for his 6, turns out he needed to modify a few things for the cams he wanted to make them fit.

Have a look at petert's website here, he does regrinds which work well.

Sounds like an interesting engine build welshpug, how did it end up? Any power figures? (306gti link)

I didn't take the 88mm crank + S16 rods any further, just got the head skimmed as little as possible, the valve cutouts enlarged and a PH2 inlet fitted, not MOT'd as yet (has been in one piece since mid April!)

It does idle just like a standard engine so far, though the timing hasn't been set with a dial gauge yet.

seems like its best to have the pistons pocketed first after reading the links.

i dont want to go crazy with my engine just some cams, bodies and some managment, so is pocketing ok as i dont wont to weaken the pistons?
