Engine Problem :(

Recommended Posts

my 1.6 has started behaving a bit strangely!

i hadnt driven it for a few days so fired it up and took it for a spin, all good! got back to the car park and let the engine run for a bit longer, when i tried to give it some revs it started to cough and splutter, wouldnt pick up properly and eventually just stalled. with this a small plume of white smoke came from inside my k&n air filter :-/ i started it up again and it started fine but as soon as i tried to give it some revs, same thing!

does anyone know what this is and how serious it is?

also i have a small oil leek, apparently from the dizzy but it seems to have gotten worse, and now there is oil on the front of the head by the inlet manifold, it looks like its coming from the bolts in the top of the rocker cover but im no mechanic so cant really tell!

cheers all

fix oil leak. might be interfering with your rotar arm contact points. if you are having too much crank case pressure it might force oil out of badly sealed areas.

Check the oil breather pipes are not blocked. I would take the dizzy cap off and clean the rota arm and the contacts on the cap and try it again.
