I love carbs also, i have a set a few years ago and now im looking at fitting some throttle bodies.

 

Great work there Ben, your black 205 did not look that bad from the picture, was the chassis bent or something ?

Yes there is chassis damage and lots of rust. I have prefer to start a new project from a clean shell without any rust and welded. I've sandblasted all the undernearth and after I've treated it for rust.

 

Now the car is running, I've made 4 wheels alignement ! The car run fine but I need to adjust the advance and carbs synchronisation.

Everything was ok with the car, on a straigh lane, i follow an exige 190hp so I'm happy with my engine summer tune. :rolleyes:

I'm not so far from the clio 2 et 3 cup so it's good news for chassis/engine on track.

The stub axle is attached to a plate that bolts on rather than being pressed into the trailing arm as the 207 torsion beam is made from plate steel, 207 hubs are similar to later 307 ones and are integral to the disc, though the bearing is replaceable.

So I need to speek about my experience with newmans ph2, I mount it, and after that, I'm going on RR to see what figure it produce.

I was suprised by the score : 154hp at flywheel (I don't know how much hp I have before the ph2). So since I've tried to tune my carbs but without any change, so I choose the Megajolt (electronic ignition) solution to tune my ignition, but I have problem with the megajolt and finaly the car don''t start and I don't know why.

 

So now, I'm a bit fed'up with my carbs setup so I'm tempted to buy bodies and standalone ECU for my setup or buy an other completely standard XU10j4RS with loom and ecu to have a reliable 165hp with an ECU.

 

I spend lot of my time and money on the car and now I'm a bit disgusted cause It don't work as it should, and my motivation go down day after day...

These things are there to test us Ben, try not to let it get to you.

 

If you did go the throttle bodies route, you could get it tuned up the next time you come to the UK, there are quite a few around.

did you set the lift @ TDC figures for the PH2's? I haven't had my engine on a Dyno or RR but it is quicker than with the original camshafts.
