Ideling Problems

Hi guys having a little problem with my 205 gti6.

Thing is on start up its fine ideling at just under 1000rpm but as soon as i hit the throttle it jumps right up to 2000rmp and wont come back down.

Its starting to irrate me at the traffic lights.

any ideas?

first thing i would try is cleaning throttle body and idle control valve also while there check intake gaskets and hoses for leaks using some carb cleaner
