i have a few isues with the dust collector in the garage. i did a full restoration on the car including engine and body work. its beggining to take as much time to get it running propperly, and is becoming a downer!!

anyway.... regards to the vss which locates in the box, does this have to be installed? i did a conversion from a 605 svti a couple of years and this was not needed. i have plugged it in, but not in the box.

the car runs like a bag of...

it revs ok on the drive but soon as there is load when its drivin it dunt want to no.

it runs really rich too. the plugs become very sooty, not oily

That is precisely your problem.

I take it the VSS sensor is electronic and your car is running like a bag of nails because, the ECU does not know the car is moving.

If you don't use the VSS sensor on a 6 it is silly slow and does not fuel right.

I don't think my skip is running a VSS (Early ECU ending 219). I was wondering this because Jamals posts say the ECU regulates the overboost using this.

Nothing is wrong with my car, it runs fine. I'm nearly 100% certain it is not running a VSS. I presume it mounts the same as a Speedo drive on the end of the gearbox? If so, I'm just running a standard 205 one so I have not got one

It won;t effect the overall running but if anything like the 6 it makes it cammy as such,

I;ve driven a XU10J2TE without this and the boost solinoid thing and it went OK but just a bit peaky again

I drove my Xs with 106 gti engine without this connected up but the idle was very lumpy and its seemed to be running rich, once I connected it up using one of those dual speedo drives it was much better.

I used to have a '96 Xantia turbo and when the VSS failed it would stutter a little when pulling away in first but seemed fine other than that.

Has anyone got a picture of one? Do they just plug to the standard socket for the speedo drive? What pins on the 2.0t (ECU 0 280 000 219) ECU do they feed?
