Film Car Chases

Recommended Posts

Just been watching a James bond film on tv and there was this car chase looks like south of france monaco. This is one has a Renault 5 turbo and a peugeot saloon.

It has always been a dream of mine to drive my 205 around south of france along the mountain corniches.

Bullit - because of the build up as much as the chase itself, they practiced out on an airfield for a couple of months, its best because it's imperfect

bullit link

vanishing point is one big chase movie.

the one from ronin is always cited as really good, but it think it's pony.

Not the best, but let's have something different shall we :)

I always bring this movie up - it's not great, I know, but I'm a sucker for 80's cheese... and there's plenty of scenes in it (plus Sherilyn Fenn's tits, of course)...

This one made me chuckle too...

First film is better though - a must-see for car fans

80's childhood favourite: smokey and the bandit the transam had lovely black bodywork with gold phoenix appologies if this has been covered before but hey like already said Ronin is always mentioned and I think its pretty dull car chase.

It's a Gordini Turbo.

On the subject of Taxi (and the first film is one of my favourites for chase scenes), does anyone know what engine they used in the 406? It sounds glorious! I'd assume it's most likely a touring spec 2.0 16v (doesn't sound like a V6), but it sounds totally different to the 306 in that clip from the 2nd film, which I'd presume to be a 306 Maxi, so also a 2.0 16v NA. I realise they will have overdubbed the sound in, but they need the sound in first place, so anyone know what it is?

No it isn't - it's a Renault 5 Turbo.

A Gordini Turbo looks like this - funnily enough my mum had one.

A 5 Turbo looks like this

They came with a space age eighties dash

The Turbo 2 looks like this - very similar but different dash

A Maxi like this - differences in bodykit are a visual clue.

Well to be pedantic then, wasn't it a Turbo 2 in the film? That bottom pic looks more like the one I saw in the Bond film this afternoon.
