No Fuelling..

The fuel pump works.. When i wired it manually to a 12V live it comes on, but it still won't fire up.. Does this mean I've got no signalling to the Injectors?

I don't know how the injectors are signalled mind you  .. I'm only guessing that my injectors arent injecting and the fuel pump isn't coming on because I've got an electrical fault, its just a case of where?! :)

And the car was driving really well before it died whilst I was driving it..

And yes theres fuel in the tank LOL :)

are the injectors getting 12v+ ? sounds like its a tachymetric relay issue.

Where's the relay for the pump?

I'll check the 12V+ now :) Thanks

Check the tachy relay.

The relay gets signal from sensor in dizzy to start fuelling in basic terms, not sure if all phase of gti are same but my 1.5 is located by ecu above steering column.

Right, checked the relay.. it's working, I can see that it works when i take the cover off

So it's nice that it's working.. But now it's more complicated :)

Yeah welshpug, the big black one?! :)

yup, did you check with a multimeter though? it could have a burnt out contact.

RIGHT! Problem solved!!!

Dry joint on the Relay, checked underneath and the solder's pretty much missing.. Which would explain why my fuel pump sticks on once I've turned the engine off in the past? I'll post a picture for search terms sake when somebody's found the same problem

HAha yeah, checking with the mutimeter gave us the connection :)

Problem NOT solved =/

For christ sake.. Umm, the relay works.. It sticks now and again but it works. I can't get the car to fire now, It fired up earlier but my dad cut the car before it ran, Ive got no solder but i'm going to buy a new Relay tomorrow and hope that it fixes the problem

I'm loosing patience for this car =/ Its the drive when it's working that keeps my hopes! :)

They do test our devotion but you just got to keep showing them love anything is fixable.

So what next?

I mean all i can think of is to buy a new relay at first, so i can completely wipe that problem away.. But the relay works, it switches.. So what are the chances of a mechanically working relay not being electrically sound?

Plus theyre only about a tenner aren't they?

have you tested the output with a meter?

a mechanically operating relay is only proof the coil is energising and pulling contacts down it does not prove the contacts are sound.

get it all the time with relays at work energise ok but high ohms across burnt/pitted contacts causing lack of volts out.

if i were you i would just renew it,you have already found dry joint on it and the fault points to the relay so might aswell just renew.
