Bonnet Pins

Recommended Posts

I know this is slightly old now but I thought it a bit pointless to start a new thread.

I wanted to avoid fitting bonnet pins at all cost, I was trying to keep the car looking as standard as possible from the outside. Unfortunatley due to the fact my inlet manifold is so long there was no choice, the slam panel must be cut quite drastically (so much so that I'm going to do away with it and just use a piece of alloy bar to mount the grille.)

I had decided on Aerocatches as they seemed to be the most subtle, especially if you paint them.

That was until I found some traditional locking ones.

They are alot cheaper (but to be honest, this far in to my build £30-40 means very little so that wasn't a deciding factor) I just think they look more subtle.

Rather than leave them bright silver I painted the plates (but not the lock as I'm sure that would get scratched)

(Excuse the poor picture, It's the irst time the cars eout of the garage this year...)

From anything other than retty close and standaing over the car they are not very obvious imo, not perfect but I'm happy with them. :)

I wouldn't rely on those to keep the bonnet down, IIRC it says that on the packet too, they are a secondary lock. I have had all sorts of problems with them on a mates car, the least of which was them getting stuck in the locked position on the car.

Hmm, interesting. They didn't say anything like that on mine and I can't see any real reason why. It's really secure but still, I'll look at it. :)

Worst case scenario its very easy to swap to aerocatches!

Which one is the the sit on top called? Flush? Plus flush!!?!?

Plus Flush are the ones that sit on top of the panel. I have the locking ones as I don't use the standard bonnet locking device on my track orientated car.
