Will 175/65/14 tyres fit on 1600 alloys?

 

To fit 1600 alloys over 1.9 brakes, do you need to file the calliper down slightly?

Any 14" tyres will fit on a 14" alloy. A lot of 1600 wheels will fit over the calipers, though there have been some recent posts about them not fitting so am not sure..

There are a lot of views about will 1.6 rims fit over 1.9 calipers, it comes down to 2 things - disc/pad thickness and the type of 1.6 alloy it is.

 

With new discs and pads, the slider sticks out further and will catch on all the variants of 1.6 alloy.

 

Speedline 1.6 alloys give a little more room than all the others, plus are slightly lighter.

 

All the others catch towards the centre of the wheel and require a lot more ground off.
