Lights Just Died, In The Middle Of Town

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

i just nipped out for a dirty kebab after work and the lights were fine on the way up there, but when i came out with said kebab in hand the lights would not come on.

no amount of banging on the fuse board (usually works) would bring them back on.

now i was faced with a predicament really, do i leave my car in the middle of the town centre on a friday night in a pay and display zone with a load of pissheads lurking about and a kebab getting cold or do i whack on the four ways and take my chances driving home?

well the car is back outside my house now so i guess i took the latter option ;) naughty i know but i just couldnt leave her there.

tbh i dont really know where to start with the lights? i had fourways and indicators and i hope i had brake lights but no dash or exterior lights?

it has been messing about for a while but normally if i gave the glove box are a whack it comes back on so i would go for a loose connection first?

It could be one of the wires on the multiplugs going into the fuseboard become loose. I had the same problem once and it was caused by a previous owner fitting high wattage bulbs. They had been removed long ago but the wires had slightly burnt and gone crispy and eventually snapped off. I don't remember which one it was but IIRC it is in the Haynes.

i'll have to have a little investigation.

its odd though as when i went out this morning i had a flat battery as i had left the light switch on but lights not on ???

would it still draw current even though the lights were not actually on?
