Maf - What Does It Do , What Are Symptoms If Not Working

A MAF (Mass airflow sensor) sensor is a airflow meter just like standard 8 valve engines have, the airflow meter is a mechanical type, but there is a fully hot wire type which is a bit more reliable not having a moving flap but still not as good as a more modern MAP sensor, theres still a bit more to them in operation but that's the basic difference. When they go you basically get the wrong fuelling for given engine loads, which in turn gives erratic engine running and rich or lean emissions. Most 205 airflow meters just wear out there track and Ive seen some seize up there internal flap, there's all kinds of reasons they will stop working.
