What Make Are These?

Recommended Posts

Paul_13

Recently after blowing up 2 engines and all doom and gloom, I came across these and a rebuilt head.

Now it doesn't sound too lairy on idle, but pulls well up to 5k (didn't go any higher as I don't know wether the engine has been run in or not and it was a short drive)

Has anybody seen these before?

I'm in Leeds at the moment so can't whip the rocker cover off.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Interesting, I've worked on 8+ gti6 heads and have never came across these.

I did think they might be standard because of the yellow marker.

Another thing that threw me off was the piper/dayco (cant remember which) belt which was new and the rebuilt head.

Seems to me like it's snapped a belt in the past

yep, standard earlier type, the later pulley is a single bolt affair but still adjustable.

Dayco belt is standard peugeot but many motorfactors sell them, usually in INA kits.

They are much easier to adjust than the crappy later design, But the type shown have been known to crack on some engines

I was going to post about that but the ones I know of cracking were being used on some lairy cams, solid lifter and up to I think 9k rpm.

No, that was my point, I didn't bring it up before as I'm fairly sure Paul won't be using them under such extreme conditions!

The race engine in question had its rev limit reduced until better pulleys were supplied.
