Issue With Reconditioned Distributor

Recommended Posts

Matteo

Hello, recently I had my distibutor professionally reconditioned.

Just after this my rev-counter stopped working fine. I mean the rev-counter gauge no more moves smootly, it vibrates continuously

I even fitted a spare dizzy and the rev-counter works fine, like with my distributor before it was reconditioned.

Who did the work on the dizzy says it is not involved in the rev-counter because it takes the signal from the coil.

I know it is true, but with Jetronic system no other crank speed sensors are in the engine, so I guess the signal is taken from the dizzy. Is this correct?

Do you think something went wrong with the work on my distributor as now the rev-counter doesn' t work?

Many thanks for your time.

My understanding is that the signal comes direct from the coil, the ignition Amp gets signal from the distributor to trigger the spark.
