Ebay Wiper Blades/washers Combined

Recommended Posts

Was thinking I might give these a go for s*its 'n' giggles. But just wondering if anyone else has tried them (on any car, not just a 205), and if they are definately NOT worth wasting money on?

As I can't link to eBay unless in Off Topics, it's item number 390239794830. But for those too lazy to look, I'm talking about the modern flat wiper blades with a washer jet in the middle. They seem to have just started doing the rounds only recently.

I like the idea and the flat blades seem to work really well. So it will be like having a 405 spray bar with flat blade wipers?

Sorry never tried them, just wondering how tidy they would look once fitted - cable ties etc.

Don't like the look of those TBH, I always fit 405 spray bars to mine and one of the main reasons is seagull sh1t. The sfandard ones just don't supply enough water to shift it. Now imagine a week old seagull turd in the middle of your screen and a rigid wiper - and as for 1000 pressure points, surely it's only one? directly in the middle?

Not tried them though but I do favour the spray bars (cable ties and all) freezing hasn't been a problem, but I have retained the bonnet spray nozzles, too on my GTi (306 twin jets are good) which does a passable impression of a monsoon.

I always found standard wipers and washers had their limitations. That's why I moved to the flat blades (agree that they look a bit marmite, but my Bosch ones have been pretty good functionally), and 307/Xsara mist type jets, along with all new tubing and brand new motor etc. The 307/Xsara jets are rubbish because they fire right in to the wipers, so I'm going to do away with them and fit brand new OE twin nozzle jets. But I could also do with getting new blades, so I thought I might give these a go and have the full flood effect across the screen just like Steve@Cornwall :) More expensive yes (not massively so considering the cost of good quality OE blades, unless you have a Halfords trade card, or trade connections etc). I don't mind potentially wasting circa £20 if they don't work. How many of you lot spend far more than that every weekend on alcohol, and I think that's a waste :):)

Would the flat blades not put more strain on wiper motors that were not designed for them? :)

I've been using some of the flat wiper blaes on my cars for the last few years & find them better than any of the normal / standard fit wipers, especially at motorway speeds in the rain.

On my 205 I have BX spray bars fitted & a 106 GTI motor but on my 306 I have Xsara washer jets.

Both work fine & tbh for the price of those wipers with built in washers if you do give them a try I hope they work 100 times better than any of the mentioned mixture of parts.

Would the flat blades not put more strain on wiper motors that were not designed for them? :)

My old 205 motor struggled with the flat wiper blades but the motor I've got now is fine, although my old motor was slow even with standard blades.

Graham.
