Alarm Fitting Certificate For Insurance Company

Recommended Posts

pugit666

Ok here is my problem, I bought a car yesterday which has fitted a clifford thatcham 1 alarm and also a laserline immobiliser. However there is no paperwork for these devices and the insurance company are going to want to see these. Do you think they are going to want me to get a new alarm fitted with said documents? Has anyone else had this problem?

The clifford as a cat 1 should do what the Lazerline immobiliser does, are they both working at the same time?

you need to find a clifford or Laserline installer and ask them to check the system works and they may be able to provide a certificate.

I haven't picked car up yet but i'm guessing the laserline, if connected is just doing the same as the clifford so i'll just pull it out i think. Saves doing it later when it breaks.

That doesn't please many, certainly not direct line in my experience, 205 never had a cat 1 type alarm fitted from the factory.

well i just did some insurance quotes and changed the alarm from thatcham 1 to just another alarm. ( I have found in the apst that if it is not thatcham, the insurance don't want proof of it. ) The result being no change no premium. Hopefully i won't need any certificate?

a friend had the same problem, so he went to a alarm installer, who wrote out a report to varify that it was fitted to the car , for a small charge, and the insurance company were happy at that,
