Shunt Box Location

Where do people locate these shunt boxes as mine is just dangling need to secure it somewhere properly

Can you please make a bit of an effort to title/describe your topics a little clearer, such that it helps people and searchers see what it's about?

 

What I mean is: "Shunt Box - Location" or "Shunt Box" and then in the box below it "Location" or "Where do people mount it?"

 

I really am not picking on you, but this is something which would help the forum collectively if everyone would make their topics titles clear and concise, otherwise many people simple will not bother looking and therefore answering.

Now to show I'm helpful, shunt boxes usually have a long bolt for mounting through the plastic moulding. They are mounted from factory in at least 2 places I've seen (naturally near the battery as they are designed to take one wire from the positive battery terminal and distribute power to where it's needed):

 

> On the slam panel

> On the battery tray

 

Keeping cable runs as short as possible is always good for your car's electrical system. So I would find somewhere sturdy and safe to mount it (with that bolt), near the battery. It's carrying high current, so needs to be mounted such that it's insulated from the shell/chassis.

Depends on the year and model it is, there is around 4 locations, Slam panel, Headlight Panel, Single remote Bracket or Powersteering/A/C bracket.

Here's where mine is located.

 

 

I knocked up a little bracket to keep it away from rubbing against the slam panel.
