Driveshaft Compatibility

Recommended Posts

In a bit of a bother really, the passenger side driveshaft on my xs has started to knock, therfore I thought of doing some preventitive maintanance and replacing it before it goes pop!

Here the puzzle begins!

I have been to a local car parts place today to be told that the company who made the shafts for them have recently gone bust, oh well, I shall try the main dealer i told myself! Unfortunately they have also stop making them, but the helpfull chap did say he might be able to get a similar shaft in but was not sure of the difference: hence I am asking on this kind forum :D of ours.

The part which is listed in his book for my car (xy8 with BH3 box) was part number 327497,

he may be able to get part number 327497 but it was on back order so not definite.

Does anyone know where I could possible get hold of a new or refurbished shaft? Does a shaft from a citroen or any other variant of peugeot 205 fit without modification?

All help much appreciated!!!

Regards

Gerallt

I am sure there are engineering firms who can recondition your shaft for about £30-40.

Looking on service box he could struggle to get a 3274.97 as its listed an NFP part.

Try through the Motaquip website (PSA's own aftermarket parts supplier) & its links to AMK driveshafts.

You might be lucky & find the Citroen AX used the same mix of engine & gearbox as yor car but I don't know for certain if they did & that doesn't mean you'll find one.

Graham.

Unfortunatly the AX used the TU engine \ MA gearbox combo from the outset, not the 'Gearbox in sump' style of the old X series engines used before 1988 in the 205.
