Get onto the Retrorides website and search for JamesP, he gets banding done at a fraction of the cost of the wheel banding companys. his work is top quality aswell.

Im sure someone will Correct me if i am wrong but are c5 actually "steel" wheels? if they are not you might find it harder to get them banded!

Edit - had a small search and got this info from GLP

The following are actually alloy wheels, but look like steelies. They are all 15" diam and 6" wide, and I think they are all ET19, so basically a direct replacement on the 205.

GTi6 steel wheels - part number 5401 H7 - £33.80 each inc VAT

C5 steel wheels - part number 5401 L7 - £67.28 each inc VAT

C5 steel wheels - part number 5401 C1 - £34.85 each inc VAT

Tapered wheel bolts* - part number 5405 72 - £2.61 each inc VAT

*all the steelies require tapered bolts except an earlier version of wheel that was discontinued due to issues.

I've listed 2 versions of the C5 wheel above. These are the ones I've found mentioned when trawling previous posts, but there are actually quiet a few other versions too.

Sorry top be the bearer of bad news but i dont think you will find many willing to band alloy.

the c5 steelies are alloy... so welding them may be tricky.

There's nothing to say it can't be done, it's just a bit more difficult to weld so will be more expensive.

You can weld it, but are you prepared to drive on them knowing that you've probably halved the strength of the alloy in the HAZ and willing to risk the microcracking that you're going to get with such a large, thin piece unless it's welded in an oven?

To get someone to do it properly would probably cost more than having some made outright <_<

Tbh, if it's just for shows, just make some steelies up by welding the Pug centre into some 8J rims.

Weeeell.. you can always have them heat treated afterwards. I didn't say it was a good idea, I just said it was doable and would be expensive! <_<

Plus the central part of the wheel rim isn't really the most stressed, surely it would be where the "spokes" are welded to the rim? I wonder whether Peugeot had the complete wheels heat treated after manufacture or whether they accounted for the weakened HAZ by over-speccing the material thickness.

Steel wheels wouldnt req heat treating and alloy wheels are cast <_<

The alloy "steelies" were not cast, they are a pressed centre welded to a rolled outer rim, much like a standard steel wheel.

They're done in a rolling oven by Pug/Citreon and magnafluxed to check the weld, one of the old assembly lines is for sale at the minute actually.

Hmm, anyone want 5000 C5 alloys? <_<
