Daft as it may seem its cheaper to tax my 51 plate 206 GTi than it is to tax an X reg one which is on the older tax system.

Oh and as well as the massive tax on the AM there is a big tax on the first registration too

Yep '01> tax for big emissions cars is insane! :)

Things like an E39 M5, and earlier one is massively cheaper to tax despite being an identical car!

It only costs me £68.75 to tax my little 1360 for 6 months.

Happy days!

In the grand scheme of car ownership, car tax has never bothered me much. It's the insurance that I complain about!

I pay roughly twice as much a year in road tax than I do for insurance - now remind me, how many can I drive at once?

My insurance is 1.5 times the cost of road tax. Utterly irrelevant when I feel like I'd get more value by wiping my ass with the money either way.

Yes, why not! I run a VW Golf Mk4 130 TDi and thats only £125 per annum. On the other hand, I also run a group of LGV's varying from 10 to 26 ton gross. The '51 plate 10 tonne is £230 a year! and the 6 wheelers are about 400+. NOT relative! So why £205 for a Pug GTi! Rant over. :(
