205 Gti6 Throttle Cable?

Hey guys,

 

As above really, which throttle cable should I use for the conversion? the 205 one? gti6? mi16?

off the shelf 205 one, as they are universal cut to length jobs with a few assorted end fittings, about £15 from most motorfactors.

I bought a 306 one off there for circa £12,as above universal style,cut to length and fit end to it

Out of interest, how have people run them? I cut mine fairly long and it winds to the throttle body in a sweeping S bend yet the pedal is really stiff. I'm wondering if shorter or longer would make it smoother. Longer would be more sweeping but obviously more friction due to cable rubbing. Shorter would be a more aggressive bend but less material to rub...

Length does make a difference to pedal feel

 

I tried mine like the later 306's to start with,down to front panel,across front panel,looped past battery to TB,pedal was heavy/stiff

 

So did it in a small S,cable tied to fuel rail,then to TB,much better pedal feel

Another question guys, I'm having the exhaust manifold re angled and just need to know if I have to cut the down pipe at all or will it be ok???

Your downpipe will also need modifying.

The same amount they cut out when re-angling manifold!

 

Thats what I had to do with the Gti6 Devil de-cat pipe I used with my 309

You need to cut quite a bit out if it's a standard 205 downpipe as the 6 manifold ends up lower than the original 8v one.

It'll all make sense when the engine and mani are bolted into the car.
