Thinking Of Buying A 306 Convertible

Recommended Posts

axnutty

Looking to buy a 306 convertible as an everyday car. Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations as what to look out for or models to avoid etc.

I intend to use the car, as such it has to be reliable & economical it will also be expected to tow trailers from time to time. (Speedboat, so not that heavy)

I've found a Y reg 1.8 model which looks quite nice. Opnions please!

from passed experience with a ph1 and a ph3 cab, the roofs can play up but you can still move the roof up and down by hand, the replacment pipes for the roofs can cost a arm and a leg. the cab engines are the same as the 306 xsi lumps, i found that the 2.0 lumps drink fuel.

a hdi/dturbo would be a better bet for fuel, i picked a dturbo up for £300 and easly hits 50mpg.

Id happily have a HDi one, but didn't even realise they did them! Hmm, have to look into that.

Have noticed that electronic roof system seems to fail judging by adverts I've seen.

Apart from that nothing that is a weak spot, no commen fails? Nothing cabriolet specific to worry about like door/hood seals or cracks in body panels?
