Another Beam Question

Recommended Posts

smithy

picked up a replacement beam today and did not realise just how heavy they are.

managed to get in and out of car and to the garage so i can refurb, how many jacks do people normally use to get these things back up on to car the easiest?

is it best to fit as a whole unit or basic beam and fit bars and arms once it is bolted up?

I am having a beam replaced on my car on Monday after having it rebuilt and we will use 2 jacks (1 each end) to get it back into place.

As above, one jack in the centre and support the mounting arms to steady/see the studs into the holes in the shell.

Third; it's easy enough to do it by yourself with just one trolly jack

Hi,

as I was on my own when I did my beam last year, I just put the un-assembled tube onto the car first and built it in-situ - much easier.

regards

Dave

no jack, one mate either side lifting the beam, with me under lining it up then bolting it, proper driveway mechanics
